Election night, your future, your thoughts

Last night was a huge night across America. There were major upsets in politics, and the opposition party (the Democrats) gained control of Congress. Most experts are saying that the voters were not voting for specific candidates as much as they were voting against President George Bush and his policies.

There was a massive huge turnout in Minnesota.
In Minnesota, many people claim that they use one specific issue to determine who they will vote for at election time.

Here are my questions for you: (please answer all three).

When you are old enough, do you plan on voting?
What issues do you care about? What do you hope that your elected officials will do for you?

Cool for those of you who vote.
For those of you who don't, if you've got an issue you care about, why not vote for someone who will get into government and support your issue?

The old adage (idea) is still true: if you don't vote, you can't complain.

Some of you have posted some thoughtful comments. Nice work, guys. You can revisit, read what your classmates have posted, and respond to them. (You're not limited in the number of posts you make per issue.)

A couple of specific comments for some of you -------
Stumphie:
You are not required to vote. The experts are saying that Minnesota had a record turnout on Tuesday, with just over 65% of eligible voters actually voting. That means that 35% of the people who could vote did not. Sometimes that's because they don't care, or are lazy, or because they got stuck in traffic, or whatever. But you are not required to vote.
I do wish that people would take the time to learn about the candidates instead of just "believing" what is aired on TV in attack ads. Once people learn about the real issues and candidates, THEN they SHOULD vote.

Vanvickle: I will talk to you about your display name... or is it Ty?

Edman: if you care about dirtbiking, you'll want to pay attention to local rules that determine where you are allowed to ride and where you are not. There needs to be a place for riders, but the environment should be protected as well, yes? (an outdoorsman like yourself appreciates the woods in their natural form, without errosion.)
